What is CalMac doing in response to the current COVID-19 situation?
Covid-19 update - Omicron variant
The Scottish Government have outlined
about the COVID-19 omicron variant. We have robust protocols in place and ask all passengers to help protect one another, our crew and the communities we serve by following each one of our safety mitigations outlined below.
Physical Distancing - We follow Scottish Government guidelines at all times and maintain close correspondence with Transport Scotland regarding guidance to transport operators. In line with current advice, there is no plan to introduce new physical distancing guidelines which would limit our capacity. However, when you travel, please remember to keep your distance from others, wherever possible.
We will continue to keep customers informed of any changes. In the meantime, please make every effort you can to follow the guidelines in place.
We work closely and frequently with Transport Scotland, the Scottish Government's Resilience Team and Health Protection Scotland to stay on top of the latest advice and guidance from Government and the country's health officials.
A coordinated approach is vital to help keep both our customers and our staff safe and supported. Scotland has now moved beyond Level 0 of the official COVID19 protection measures. However, we are continuing our careful and cautious approach.
We all need to play a role in the response to Covid-19. We are asking our customers to ensure they play their part by ensuring they follow official rules - including the wearing of face coverings, which are mandatory on public transport, unless exempt, as well as CalMac's own 6 Safer Travel Rules:
1. Don't travel if you feel unwell or self-isolating
2. Plan ahead and be prepared
3. Wear a face covering unless exempt
4. Wash hands regularly
5. Pay using contactless methods
6. Follow guidance and listen to staff.
